The Captains Watch Cottage was built in 2001 and was designed with the ideas of the owner and architect Jack Miller. Your new cottage was built to replicate typical Point Prim farm homesteads in a scaled down cottage version. This property, owned and farmed by the Gillis family for over 200 years was built on the top of the north-side of a 100 Acre farm overlooking Hillsborough Bay. The Gillis family landed from Scotland on the Polly ship surrounding the shores of the Captains Watch cottage in 1803. The panoramic views from the red cliffs of Captains Watch are spectacular. Your new escape overlooks the waters where the Polly ship sailed in from Scotland with the settlers in 1803. The name, Shipwreck Shores came from the knowledge of the dozens of ship wrecks off these shores during the golden age of sailing. You will enjoy the amazing sunsets as well as the many cruise ships coming to and from the Charlottetown Harbour. As well, you can enjoy a closer look from your observation deck nestled on the cliffs of Shipwreck Shores. Over the years, Point Prim has become a must-see area of Prince Edward Island and a sought-after area to vacation or summer seasonal residency. With an outstanding restaurant, #1 on Trip Advisor, the Chowder House is a real gem located at the end of the Point Prim road on the Northumberland Strait. As well, the oldest lighthouse on Prince Edward Island (1845) is located on Point Prim with a newly constructed museum and gift shop opening summer of 2017.
