Mother’s Day is almost upon us, so what better time to reflect on what Mothers do for us. They are our teachers, supporters, influencers and our comforters. When you are sad, hurt, afraid or lonely, the most comforting spot in the world is in the arms of your Mom. This home, like a Mom has offered comfort and been a place where a lifetime of memories have been made. It may be quiet now, but trust that it was a happy home. It has memories of a foyer full of kids returning from the sliding hill, covered in snow, kicking their boots and parkas off while Mom made hot chocolate in the kitchen to warm them all up. Memories of aunts, uncles, cousins gathering for a noisy family dinner. Everyone screaming over top of each other as Mom prepared dinner in the large kitchen, kids under feet, the aunts around the peninsula, while the Dads tended to the BBQ outside on the deck. After dinner the kids were encouraged to go run around in the fenced back yard to burn off energy before bed time while the parents unwound in the living room in front of the fireplace. Memories of the kids riding their new bikes inside the house, round and round in a circle in the big basement family room. It was before Mom and Dad had furniture down there. As the kids had grown into teenagers, it was a place where they sat loudly playing video games, talking about boyfriends, girlfriends and eating home made pizzas made in-house. Memories of Mom bathing the kids in the tub before sending them off to Dad in the larger of the two kid's bedrooms. Both kids crawling into the bed, one on each side of Dad, to listen to him tell them a make believe story until they fell asleep. He would take each to their own room, tuck them in before returning down stairs to join Mom, sit on the couch and reflect on how lucky they were to live in a beautiful city and community like North Bay. This home has family memories. This home has been like a Mom, comforting, like a warm hug. This home awaits a new family, new memories. (id:54626)
